Al-Busaidi was welcomed by Deputy Minister of Defense for International Affairs at Mehrabad Airport.
Al-Busaidi is on a visit to Tehran at the invitation of Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan.
During his stay in Tehran, the Omani minister will meet President Hassan Rohani, his Iranian counterpart as well as some other senior officials.
He will also pay a visit to an exhibit of capabilities of Iranian Ministry of Defense.
The Iranian and Omani ministers are scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on defense cooperation on Tuesday.
Last month, Iranian defense minister announced readiness to broaden defense cooperation with other nations, the neighboring countries in particular.
“In line with the government’s foreign policy, we will try to establish defense cooperation with the neighboring countries as a top priority, and with the other countries,” Dehqan said.
