The explosion, believed to be a suicide bombing, took place near a school in a Southwestern district of Damascus.
The attack was reported by Syrian state television. "The terrorist explosion in al-Mezze was an attempt to target the convoy of the prime minister. Doctor Wael al-Halqi is well and not hurt at all," the report said.
At least four people were killed in the attack, according to an RT reporter in Damascus.
One of Halqi's bodyguards was among those killed, state TV reported.
