After Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid appointed Khemaies Jhinaoui at the helm of the foreign ministry of the Arab country on Wednesday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif congratulated the appointment to his new counterpart on Thursday.
In the message, Zarif has called Tunisia a friendly and brotherly state and has voiced hope that under the current leaders and with the assistance of diplomatic entities of both countries a new chapter of bilateral relations of Tehran-Tunis be opened.
"I would like to seize the opportunity to wish you and Tunisian nation success and prosperity," Zarif’s message reads after articulating his hope for expansion of all-out relations.
Khemaies Jhinaoui had formerly held the position of presidential adviser and served in 2011 as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tunisia to the Russian Federation.
