Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of aeronautical charts produced domestically by Iranian experts, Mohammad Khodakarami said a number of local airlines are conducting negotiations to renovate the commercial fleet and that some contracts have been signed in this regard.
“On the basis of envisaged plans, 10 aircrafts will be added to the country’s fleet by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (21 Marh 2016),” noted Khodakarami adding “efforts have been made to import aero planes with a lower lifespan.”
Caretaker of Iran’s Civil Aviation Organization (CAO) stressed that purchase of aircrafts requires fiscal coordination by senior officials disavowing claims of buying Russian passenger planes since the action demands CAO’s approval.
The official deemed navigation skills as the most important issue in the airline industry adding “in addition to the pivotal function of pilots, provision of aeronautical charts also plays a major role in air navigation.”
“Basically, the pilot needs to see the runway for takeoff and landing; however, in case of dust or atmospheric precipitation, aviation maps and navigation systems take on a highly crucial role,” stressed the official adding “with the efforts of Iranian experts, some aviation maps, which were previously designed by inspectors of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), have become indigenized.”
“These charts will help the pilot gain a better understanding of the location and boundaries of flight as well as that they will know to what extent it would be possible to reduce the height in case of trouble,” concluded Khodakarami.
