On Wednesday, dozens of Daesh extremists were killed when Iraqi fighter jets launched precision strikes against terrorist positions in the region of al-Jazeera, which lies east of Ramadi, the capital of Anbar Province, as well as the al-Tarabshah, Qaryat Albu Asaf and Tal Aswad districts, the Arabic-language al-Sumaria satellite television network reported.
The commander of the al-Jazeera and al-Baadia Operations, Major General Ali Ibrahim Daboun, also said Iraqi troops mounted an offensive in the conflict-ridden western city of Khan al-Baghdadi, situated about 180 kilometers (110 miles) northwest of the capital, Baghdad, killing ten Daesh militants in the process.
