
Despite the 1925 protocol and 1972 convention, Saddam Hussein of Iraq used nerve gas, mustard, and blister agents against Iranian soldiers. These agents are causes of acute pulmonary inflammation, coma, conjunctival edema, nausea, respiratory failure, blindness, blistering and severe skin lesions, and convulsions and death.
