The new edition is a version of the Shahnameh of Shah Tahmasb (r. 1524–76), which is arguably the most luxuriously illustrated copy of Ferdowsiˈs epic ever produced in the history of Persian painting.
According to Director General of the Vijeh-Nashr Publication Ahad Rezaei, the new eddition was jointly published by his publication and the US Metropolitan Museum of Art.
