This would be the first visit to Iran of the Iraqi prime minister after President Hassan Rouhani took office.
Maliki is due to hold separate meetings with senior Iranian officials.
He added that Maliki’s visit will take place in line with political talks between the two capitals.
Zarif had expressed hope that the visit would help further promote Iran-Iraq relations.
