Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei hailed remarks made by Iranian President Hassan Rohani in his address to the UN General Assembly about Iran’s readiness to constructively interact with the world and show more transparency about its nuclear program.
China has always stressed that negotiation is the best and only way to resolve Iran’s nuclear issue, he said.
The Chinese spokesman called for a swift resumption of negotiations between G5+1 and Iran to find a comprehensive solution to the dispute.
He noted that Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be present in a ministerial meeting between Iran and six major powers slated for Thursday in New York on the sidelines of the annual UN General Assembly meeting.
He expressed hope that the Thursday meeting will be constructive and pave the way for next meetings.
