Navy to Unveil New Achievements Next Week

"The new achievements of the force (Navy) will be unveiled on Farvardin 29 (April 18)," Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari said on the sidelines of a ceremony to commemorate martyrdom anniversary of Iran's renowned four-star General Ali Sayyad Shirazi, a senior Army commander who was assassinated in Tehran in 1999.

"We will announce good achievements in the first three months (March 21-June 21) and also the first half of the current (Iranian) year (March 21 - September 22) and we will definitely have new warships" joining the Navy fleet.

On April 18, various units of the Islamic Republic Army will hold military parades in Tehran and other cities across Iran to mark the National Army Day.

Senior Iranian officials as well as a host of top military commanders will attend the ceremony.

The Iranian Army has recently test-fired different types of newly-developed missiles and torpedoes and tested a large number of its home-made weapons, tools and equipments, including submarines, military ships, artillery, choppers, aircraft, UAVs and air defense and electronic systems, during massive military drills.

Defense analysts and military observers say that Iran's wargames and its advancements in weapons production have proved as a deterrent factor, specially at a time of heightened threats by the US.
