Speaking to reporters at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport, Larijani described India as an "important" country in the region with a long historical background of close parliamentary relations with Iran.
He said his visit to India came at the invitation of the Indian officials and will focus on the expansion of the two countries' relations.
"During the visit, we will hold a meeting with the country's economic activists and will try to remove problems in this regards," Larijani noted.
"Also in the visit, we will talk with the Indian President, Prime Minister, Foreign Ministry and National Security Advisor about removing obstacles to economic cooperation," Larijani added.
The Iranian speaker further said that he will also discuss regional issues, including Afghanistan, counterterrorism and counternarcotics, in his meetings with Indian officials..
Iran and India which have deep historical and cultural relations are now seeking to further expand political and economic ties.
India, the world's fourth-largest petroleum consumer, is Iran's second largest oil customer after China and purchases around $12 bln worth of Iranian crude every year, about 12 percent of its consumption.
