FM to Depart for Moscow Tomorrow to Attend Joint Commission Meeting

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is slated to leave Tehran for Moscow on Monday to attend the 10th meeting of Iran-Russia Joint Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission.

Heading a high-ranking delegation, Salehi, as the Iranian head of the commission, will attend the two-day meeting which opens in Moscow tomorrow.

Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak will reside the commission meetings on the part of Moscow.

The Iranian and Russian officials are slated to sign a final document at the end of their meeting.

Earlier, Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Mahmoud Reza Sajjadi had announced that Iran-Russia Joint Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission's meeting would be held in Moscow on February 11-12.

The 9th meeting of Iran-Russia Joint Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission was held in Tehran in September 2011. Salehi and Russia's former Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko jointly presided the meeting.

The 8th meeting of Iran-Russia Joint Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission was also held in Tehran in November 2009. Iran's former Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and Russia's former Energy Minister Sergey Shmatko jointly presided the meeting.

Iran and Russia have vast cooperation in different fields, especially in political and economic spheres.

The two enjoy also special position on the international scene and have long held constant consultations on key regional and global issues.
