“No meeting was held between President Rouhani and Saudis as it was not planned already,” said Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, in an interview with the IRIB.

Araghchi underlined that no Iranian official met with Saudis in the Istanbul summit of OIC and the event was unsuccessful in creating unity between Muslims.

Recounting the ambience of the 13th summit of Islamic Cooperation Organization in Istanbul, the senior diplomat said that a heavy tone atmosphere pervaded the event and, “unity, solidarity, and unanimity, were the bold absent signs between Muslim countries, which is rooted in the past.”

Araghchi also referred to the major areas of President Rouhani’s address at the event including the priority of issues in the Islamic world and the phenomenon of extremism in the Islamic lands.
