Perfect 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships began on Sunday morning in Kuala Lumpur while the second round of group stage matches in women’s section was held Sunday afternoon.
Iran’s women squad managed to make a clean sweep against Sri Lanka 3-nil.
Consisting of Neda Shahsavari, Mahjubeh Omrani and Maryam Samet, the Iranian outfit had previously thrashed Thailand in their opening encounter.
Iran will play its third match at World Team Table Tennis Championships against Ethiopia.
Meanwhile, Iranian male tennis players, who had defeated Thailand on Sunday, will hold second and third matches against the Netherlands and Canada on Monday February 29.
The Perfect 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships is officially underway, with the group stage of both the Men's and Women's Teams events kicking off at the Malawati Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 28 February while the event will wrap up on May 06.
