Siamak Rahpeik, Guardian Council member and Central Elections Supervisory Body Spokesperson, made the remarks emphasizing that the figures are not precise since they have not been completely announced.
“However, until 9 in the evening, the statistics revealed total participation of 28 million people while the available ballot papers exceed the number,” he added.
Rahpeik further noted that the counting of votes for the Assembly of Experts will take place prior to that of the Parliamentary elections.
“Elections in Tehran Province and some major cities have been extended for one more hour until 23:00 local time, 19:30 GMT due to massive participation on the part of people,” he concluded.
