The main draw competitions of the 2015/2016 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour kicked off on Tuesday morning in Iran’s Kish Island while the Iranian representatives Vahid Nikufar and Abdolaziz Amanian failed to overcome Germany, the best-ranking team in the tournament.
The Iranian squad lost to German beach volleyball players in two consecutive sets (11-21, 11-21) and will face Austria on Tuesday afternoon.
At other simultaneous matches, Italy overcame China 2-0 while Canada subdued Austria 2-1.
One of several new venues on the 2015/2016 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour calendar, Iran’s Kish Island is hosting the men’s only FIVB Kish Island Open, underway on February 14-19.
