Aslani told IRNA that the drugs confiscation showed a 24 percent increase compared to that in the same period the previous year.
Meanwhile, Police Chief in Markazi Province Colonel Mohammad Hassan said on Wednesday that 5.203 tons of drugs have been confiscated in Markazi Province this year. The seizure was up by 68 percent compared to the figure for the same period the previous year.
Iran has the highest record of confiscating smuggled narcotics in the world under such conditions that the area under poppy cultivation in Afghanistan has increased drastically.
