According to Behrouz Kamalvandi, Deputy Head and Spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), Amano’s visit will be only a formality and he is not scheduled to visit any facilities while on his one-day visit to Tehran.
Kamalvandi added that the IAEA head would instead hold a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to discuss ways for further cooperation between Iran and the IAEA.
“The JCPOA has predicted an eight-year term of implementation, but we wish to arrive at that point as soon as possible and this can only be possible with closer cooperation between Iran and the Agency,” Kamalvandi said on Sunday.
