Deputy Industry Minister Valiollah Afkhami Rad said the Iranian government is seriously pursuing the country’s membership in the WTO which involves a long, negotiated process with challenges both domestically and abroad; “Iran will soon form a working group to negotiate its way to join the World Trade Organization and a total of 40 countries have expressed willingness to join the group which marks the prerequisite for permanent membership to the WTO.”
“There exists a good consensus on Iran joining the WTO to the extent that 17 ministers of 17 countries seek to conduct meetings with Iran’s representative on the issue while Iran has aslo increasingly voiced readiness in this regard,” noted Afkhami Rad.
The official further asserted that “all aspects will be taken into mind during the process of joining the WTO and the tariffs reform in order to support the country’s industries and productions.”
