The visit comes at the invitation of Iran's First Vice-President Es’hagh Jahangiri and will continue until Tuesday, January 5.
Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer of Afghanistan, is accompanied by his deputy Executive Officer Mohammad Mohaqiq, National Security Advisor Mohammad Hanif Atmar, Minister of Trade and Industries, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Minister of Information and Culture, Minister of Transport and Aviation, and a number of other high-ranking officials.
During the two-day visit, Abdullah is scheduled to meet and hold talks with Iranian officials on bilateral and regional issues.
He is also slated to visit Port of Chabahar in southeastern Iran to assess the transit capacities in line with the agreements achieved between Iran and Afghanistan.
Three MoUs on tourism, sports and cultural cooperation will also be inked and a joint statement will conclude the visit.
