IRNA learned that negotiations were held between Gazprom of Russia and Iran's Ministry of Petroleum.
According to the plan, Russia would increase gas export to Armenia through Georgia and Iran would supply gas to Russia as part of the swap deal.
Russia is currently exporting over two billion of cubic meters of gas to Armenia via Georgia.
Iranian barter trade with Armenia amounted to some 0.3 billion cubic meter of gas to Armenia in exchange for electricity.
Iran's oil minister has already said that Iran and Russia have discussed an oil and gas swap deal.
