Deputy Head of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) Hamidreza Khoshayand described the latest status of drilling new oil and gas wells in Iran adding “during the first three quarters of the current Iranian calendar year - ending at December 22 - with the concurrent activities of 75 offshore and onshore drilling rigs, providing drilling services went up by 11 percent when compared with similar period last year.”
“Since the beginning of the current year, a total of 136 exploratory, developmental-descriptive and repairing oil and gas wells have been drilled covering the wide range of 10 Iranian provinces,” he asserted.
The official maintained that during the first three quarters of the current Iranian year, numerous wells were drilled in various areas including 79 wells in southern oil-rich areas, 11 in the central regions, 14 in the offshore oil fields of the Persian Gulf, two at the order of Exploration Management Department of NIOC, 28 in the jurisdiction of Iran's Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) as well as two wells in other areas.
