Pope condemns world violence, calls for peace

Francis Pope lamented the existing violence in the world and reiterated his call for peace, during his Christmas message to the thousands of faithful gathered at the Saint Peters Square.

The Supreme Pontiff urged Israelis and Palestinians to resume direct talks in order to 'live together in harmony and overcoming a conflict that confronts them for so long, with serious consequences for the entire region. "
 
He also called to 'silence the roar of weapons in Syria and remedy the serious humanitarian situation of the exhausted population'.
 
He called to end the divisions and violence existing in Libya.
 
In addition, he denounced the recent terrorist acts recorded in countries such as Egypt, Lebanon, France and Tunisia.
 
Pope stressed the need for harmony in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi and South Sudan and urged that, 'through dialogue, commitment will be strengthened for the building of civil society encourage by sincere spirit of reconciliation and reciprocal understanding'.
