According to Press TV, Assad said the war could be over in less than a year if the responsible countries try to stop the flood of foreign terrorists into Syria.
In an interview with a Dutch television station, the Syrian president noted that only Russia and Iran are ready to help end the nearly five-year crisis.
He suggested that the model of local ceasefires in Syria could be used as a basis to end fighting.
More than 250,000 people have been killed in the war that was largely a result of foreign-backed militancy.
