Member of Pakistan’s Senate defence committee said: according to resolution passed by joint session of the Parliament in April this year, Pakistan must not join any foreign military alliance including a recent one announced by Saudi Arabia.

Parliament resolution does not let Pakistan to join Saudi-led alliance: senator

'I don’t understand why Saudi Arabia has included the name of Pakistan in newly formed 34-nation military alliance without the consent of Pakistan,' Senator Syed Tahir Hussain Mashhadi told IRNA.

“Parliament resolution does not let Pakistan to join new Saudi-led alliance. The resolution has already not allowed Pakistan to join Saudi-led war against Yemen,” he added.

Yet in another reaction to Saudi’s move in including Pakistan in a newly released list of so-called anti-terrorist alliance, Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry denied Pakistan’s membership in the new alliance announced by Saudis.

'I was surprised to read the news that Saudi Arabia had named Pakistan as part of the alliance,' said the Foreign Secretary.
