Leaders of of Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India broke the ground for gas pipeline project in Mari on Saturday.
Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari attended the official ceremony to initiate construction of the TAPI gas pipeline project.
In his lecture to the audiences, Turkmenistan president said that TAPI can provide the region’s energy security and it can facilitate safe delivery of gas to the neighboring states.
Afghanistan president for his part said that TAPI project can enhance regional stability by increasing solidarity among central and southern Asian states.
