According to Syria's state-run news agency, SANA, one of the explosions took place near a medical center and another at a crowded market in the town of Tal Tamr, which is mainly inhabited by the Syrian Kurds.
The report added that the vehicles were packed with large amounts of explosives and inflicted significant damage to nearby shops and businesses.
Meanwhile, the London-based so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights put the fatalities at 12 people, adding that the death toll was likely to rise because of the large number of people who were wounded and missing.
The monitor group added that the exploding vehicles were likely tankers, which caused the massive explosions.
Terrorists with the Daesh Takfiri group, which has overrun parts of Syria, have been staging attacks against Tal Tamr in an attempt to break the control of Kurdish forces over the town.
