Seyed Abbas Araghchi told Iran’s state TV IRIB on Tuesday that Iran’s delegation in Vienna had long and comprehensive discussions with the 5+1 members on the draft of the resolution; “they sought Iran’s position on the draft as the major shareholder of the issue, and we provided them with clear positions,” he told IRIB. “
“The outcome was that the draft was recognized as a proposal by 5+1 to the Board of Governors of the IAEA, on which the Board will seek the votes of the member states; on Monday’s talks, they took into consideration Iran’s positions in preparing the draft as they had did before as well,” he asserted.
“The draft’s provisions are clear enough and it terminates the PMD case of Iran’s nuclear program once and for all; the roadmap signed by Iran and the Agency is recognized as ‘completed’ in the draft, with ensuring that all actions demanded in the roadmap had been carried out fully,” said the deputy foreign minister.
Araghchi also said that the draft would actually change the agenda of the Board; “the past agenda included implementation of the protocol, NPT, and provisions of six UN resolutions against Iran, which now had been fully terminated, with a new agenda replacing it as JCPOA implementation,” he added.
