Iran, Sweden eyeing expansion of economic ties

Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh, Iran's Industry, Mining and Trade Minister, met with Sweden’s Minister for Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg here in Tehran on Sunday.

The Iranian minister said that Iran is keen to boost economic ties and added “the two countries can cooperate in different fields namely expansion of national and foreign trade relations, innovation, modern technologies, steel industry, electronics, food industry, fruits and vegetables, tractor manufacturing, energy, oil and gas and chemical engineering.”

He added that the sector of industry, mining and trade holds a 35% share in GDP which indicates its significance in Iran’s economy.

Emphasizing that joint and long-term investment is among Iran’s main goals and policies, Nematzadeh added “Iran is ready to cooperate with Sweden in national markets as well as exports.” Manufacturing buses can be another joint venture, he noted.
