With Iran’s experience in war on terror, coordination with Russian Federation, and cooperation with central Asian countries, the parliamentary assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is considering Iran’s observer membership in the treaty, said Alaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of Iran Parliament (Majlis), on the sidelines of the ongoing assembly meeting in Russian city of Saint Petersburg on Friday.
The senior MP asserted that after talks with Sergey Yevgenyevich Naryshkin, the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and advice offered by the Iranian delegation, observer membership of the Islamic Republic was proposed and the Iranian delegation agreed with the proposal.
