Over 1.800 police raids in Paris since attacks

The French police have carried out more than 1,800 raids without judicial orders in the last 15 days since the attacks in this capital, due to the state of emergency that is still in force in the country.

About 200 people were held in custody, while 305 house arrests were ordered, said French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, who was quoted by local media.

The Government is open to a new extension of the state of emergency. The Parliament recently approved to extend the state of emergency for three months.

Minister of Interior Bernard Cazeneuve said that if information in relation to the terrorist threat remains the same after the three-month extension, lawmakers would meet again to make another extension of the state of emergency.

The Parliament approved a draft bill last November 20 to extend to three months the state of emergency.

While that measure is in force, the police can hold under house arrest all those people they consider a threat, including suspicious individuals due to their behavior or companies, statements or plans.
