In an opinion piece published on Thursday by the English-language paper Iran Daily, readers are told why the two terrorist attacks are hardly comparable.

Human casualties of the November-13 terrorist attacks on Paris cannot be likened to that of the September 11 disaster in the US. Nevertheless, the two tragedies have repeatedly been compared given the innumerable ISIS terrorist crimes in the past.
Like the September 11 incident, following the attacks on Paris, everybody expected a severe political and, particularly, economic repercussions. Everyone anticipated a significant growth in global gold and oil prices. However, the markets failed to manifest such adverse impacts in the short term.
Despite initial expectations, Paris incidents remained at the level of a terrorist attack and did not made a change even in the countries’ political stance on Syria.
