"It is quite clear, that Palestinians feel a deep frustration by the Israeli occupation, which has now endured almost 50 years," he stated here in a UN special session of the Committee for the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People.
According to the Swedish diplomat, the world community must play a major role in overcoming the current stage, to ensure a two-state solution, which means the realization of Palestinian aspirations for independence and security of Israelis.
Eliasson warned that humanity continues to witness the construction of illegal settlements in the occupied territories and demolitions of Palestinian homes, including those run by Tel Aviv for punishment, which are "policies and actions contrary to the commitment expressed by the Israel with a two-state solution".
