Iran breaks US oil giant monopoly on isomerization catalysts

Deputy-head of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company says Iran has managed to indigenize the most complex isomerization catalyst in the world that had been monopolized by an American oil company.

Shahrokh Khosravni told Mehr News correspondent that Iranian specialists for the very first time in the history of Iran and Middle East oil refinery industry have succeeded in obtaining the technological knowledge of the most strategic isomerization catalyst.
 
Noting that European and American companies had stopped selling isomerization catalysts to Iran’s oil refineries due to sanctions, Khosrovani asserted that for the very first time, this fuly indigenized catalyst has been installed in Isfahan Oil Refinery; “this refinery unit has a capacity of producing 27,000 barrels of crude oil. By utilizing the Iranian catalyst, the country’s daily production of Euro 4 fuel has increased up to 7 million liters,” he said.
