MP welcomes proposal of Coalition for Peace by President

Member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Nozar Shafie on Wednesday hailed President Hassan Rohani for the proposal of coalition for peace at UN General Assembly.

MP welcomes proposal of Coalition for Peace by President

Speaking to IRNA, Shafie said one of the meanings of the proposal is that the international community must move in the direction of peace and friendship hand in hand, and get rid of war calamity.
He said another meaning of the proposal is that the UN Security Council proved unable to guarantee security of the international community adding that the resolutions being issued by the Security Council serve interest of the veto-wielding members.
He noted that in that case, the UN General Assembly would be provided with the authority to establish peace.
The MP said that it seems that the proposal made by President Rohani to the UN General Assembly made it clear that the UN General Assembly is the most democratic and biggest pillar of the world body.
Iran has undertaken leadership of the Non-Aligned Movement, the major world body after the United Nations, which calls for a permanent representation at the UN Security Council with veto power as the same as the five veto powers --the US, UK, France, China and Russia.
NAM Leaders said at Tehran Summit that the United Nations Security Council is the defunct relic of World War II lacking legitimacy to govern the international community.
They said that the current composition of the Security Council has major flaws which registered many failures to guarantee security of the developing nations.
The NAM Leaders called for a permanent respresentation to the Security Council with veto power.
