He made the remarks at a press conference here on Wednesday.
Boosting operational readiness of personnel, regional interaction and reduction of vulnerability were three strategies of the Border Guards in the past year, the general said.
He said that 66 tons of narcotic drugs were also discovered and seized at border Zero points last year, including 4.9 tons of laboratory –made drugs.
'In year 1394, we witnessed a 42 percent increase in the arrest of bandits, while the number of those killed in armed clashes at border areas climbed by 44 percent in comparison with preceding year,' the general added.
The commander said that Iran has 8,755 kilometers of borders with its neighbors, of which 2,700 kilometers constitute water border, adding that at present Border Guards use modern control equipment such as radars, thermo graphic cameras, night vision guages, infrared cameras and drones.
