Morteza Sarmadi made the remarks in a meeting with Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabah Al Khalid Al Sabah on Thursday.
“Some regional countries are increasing tensions and insecurity and play a destructive role, harmful to the region,” said Sarmadi, pointing Iran’s positive and constructive role in Middle East.
The official underlined that all countries of the region are responsible for establishing peace and security and avoid increasing the tensions.
Denouncing the action of some protesters in storming Saudi embassy and its consulate in Tehran and Mashhad, Sarmadi said President Rouhani has issued required directives to deal with those behind the incident.
“Iran considers terrorism and extremism as the major problems of the region and is a pioneer fighting the phenomenon; however some countries exploit terrorism in direction of their own interests,” stressed Iran’s deputy FM.
He further said that execution of a prominent cleric and freedom-seeker indicates to what extent Saudi Arabia is disappointed and managed to ignite tensions in the region, adding it is among duties of all countries to prevent such provocative acts.
