Ali Akbar Velayati who was addressing a group of Syrian physicians and medics in Masih Daneshvari Hospital on Thursday in Tehran, said that the US and all those who sought to decide on behalf of Syrian people would definitely fail, since they “are not in place to decide on Syrian political future.”
“Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, and Russia stand with Syria in an unprecedented and historic alliance; nothing will fully satisfy us other than the ultimate victory, on which we have invested much hope,” Velayati added. “The Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its principled policy of supporting Bashar al-Assad and Syrian people, and the US and its coalition would only expect to see that Iran and Russia desert Assad in the wilderness of terrorism in Syria.”
Velayati reiterated Iran’s grand policy of roundly rejecting Syrian disintegration and of setting a red-line Syrian territorial integrity and sovereignty in any negotiation; “we would not back any solution Syrian people and government reject, and any solution should be agreed to by Syrian government and public,” Velayati demanded.
