The Swiss authorities have told Pakistan that graft cases against former Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari cannot be reopened as a specified time to reopen the cases has passed, local TV channels reported.

Swiss authorities say graft cases against Zardari can’t be reopened

Cases were closed down during the former President Pervez Musharraf under a controversial amnesty deal. Mr Zaradri’s Pakistan Peoples Party’s government did not press for its reopening despite the courts orders.

Local media has reported that the Pakistan Muslim League government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had approached the Swiss authorities to reopen the cases.

The Swiss authorities have now written to Pakistan that back stating the cases can’t be reopened, reports said.

Pakistani officials are now looking at the letter sent by the Swiss authorities.
