Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, said on Saturday that the US is deprived of any pretext to launch military action against Syria.

Amir-Abdollahian: US deprived of pretext to attack Syria

Amir-Abdollahian told reporters that new situation is prevailing after the Syrian leader signed up to Convention Prohibiting Chemical Weapons, so that the pretext has been taken away of the US and certain countries to attack Syria.
He said the ball is now in the US court and they should go ahead with confidence-building with the Syrian people in line with the trend of democracy in the country.
So works would go on in the right course and they should prevent entry of armed terrorist and Takfiri groups into Syria, he added.
“Naturally, the Syrian people should decide their own fate and develop democracy.”
He said that he was pleased with success of the united camp of resistance to Israeli occupation averting the US war threat.
He made it clear that the Islamic Republic of Iran has a close watch on Syria regarding the importance of the issue.
He concluded that the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has put the issue of Syria on its agenda.
