A new metro line, linking Mehrabad International Airport to the Tehran’s subway system, has been tested successfully.
The two-kilometer line, creating the opportunity to transport 40,000 citizens per day, passed primary tests on January 10, said Tehran.ir.
The new subway line which is equipped with smart trains will get into operation in near future to facilitate travelers’ transportation.
Tehran Metro carries more than 3 million passengers per day. The system currently extends more than 160 kilometers and is planned to have a length of 430 kilometers once the construction is all over.
The Tehran Metro Company's official said that the statistics suggest some 9 billion liters of gas would be saved up to 2021 through the use of Metro, besides, every Metro line provides 16,000 job opportunities directly and 165,000 indirectly.
