The Iranian squad had started the 2015 Futsal World Cup with plenty of incentive but having conceded three group stage defeats they stood in the fourth place of Group A before facing Japan for 7th place.
The match was held on Saturday morning (Tehran’s local time) and the Iranian team succeeded to subdue Japan 2-1 gaining the 7th title while Japan’s failure sent them to the 8th place in the final ranking.
Meanwhile, a few months ago, Iran had managed to overcome Japan at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup claiming the title.
Iran women’s national futsal team had opened the 2015 Women’s Futsal World Tournament with a 1-3 loss to Portugal on Wednesday.
The Iranian outfit had also suffered a loss to the defending champion Brazil 6-0 in a game held at the Domo Polideportivo de la CDAG, known commonly as Domo de la Zona 13, multi-purpose arena in Guatemala City and later lost out to Costa Rica 2-1.
The 2015 Women’s Futsal World Tournament opened in Guatemala City, Guatemala, on November 24 and wrapped up on November 29.
