Iran mulls new oil refinery

Iran is to start building a new oil refinery inside the country’s oldest refinery in the oil-rich city of Abadan, a top Iranian official said.

The new refinery, estimated to cost 2.6b euros, will have the capacity to process 210,000 b/d of oil, SHANA quoted deputy petroleum minister Abbas Kazemi as saying on Wednesday.

Kazemi, who is also managing-director of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC), said decrepit facilities at Abadan refinery will be phased out after the new facility has been constructed.
