Supervision over Leader not in Constitution

Head of Iran’s judiciary has denounced what he believed was inaccurately reported by the media that the Assembly of Experts could supervise over the Leader and possibly disqualify him.

Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani who was addressing Judiciary high-ranking officials on Monday morning, said that the idea was ill-conceived and was unconstitutional; “some individuals and circles work to publicize their wishes with hidden motives which are at the most part unconstitutional; Assembly’s supervision over the Leader is an inaccurate reading of the Constitution’s Articles 107-111, which only describe the Leader’s traits and characteristics in the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to these articles, the Assembly of Experts would only ‘identify’ the individual whose these features are the most outstanding, and the issue of supervision would not necessarily be along with this identification duty,” he told the meeting, calling all media outlets to avoid making such speculations and unconstitutional claims to wisely prevent the contaminating the healthy environment with only few months to the elections.
