Lavrov noted at the beginning of the talks with Kerry, their second meeting in Moscow so far this year, that the problems of terrorism demand paying attention to the growing and dynamic activities of the self-style ISIL in the Middle East, in Africa and in Central Asia.
The ISIL gets stronger in Libya and Iraq, while terrorist groups emerge in Afghanistan and Yemen, pointed out Lavrov, who noted the need to deal with the phenomenon in an integrated manner that goes beyond the situation in Syria.
The Russian foreign minister admitted that the presidents of Russia and the United States had repeatedly discussed a wide range of terrorism-related issues, but there are problems that demand to be reviewed in the working context of the International Group in Support of Syria, created at the request of the negotiation format in Vienna, he noted.
Lavrov stated that the Syrian issue itself demands permanent attention within the scheme of tasks and agreements reached in Vienna as a result of two meetings held at the ministerial level with broad participation of international and regional stakeholders, like Russia.
